Join ProMatch

To be a ProMatch member, you must actively participate in your job search. The following are reasons why you should join ProMatch, what are the requirements of all ProMatch members, and how to join ProMatch.

Why Join ProMatch?

1. To access the "hidden job market": Most positions at the professional level are filled through the "grapevine". Candidates need personal contacts to uncover opportunities in the hidden job market. A successful job search cannot be conducted in isolation.

2. To build professional relationships: ProMatch members, through active participation at ProMatch, develop an increased professional information and support network. ProMatch members refer each other to industry contacts, share valuable industry and technical information, keep each other accountable and motivated in their job search, and frequently hire one another!

3. To continuously meet new contacts: New ProMatch members are enrolled twice each month. Our members therefore have the opportunity to meet someone new almost every time they come to ProMatch for meetings, workshops, and other activities. During a member's 7-month membership term, a member has an opportunity to regularly interact with hundreds of professionals from a diversity of industries and functions, and to expand her/his professional network for continued career resilience.

4. To contact working ProMatch alumni: ProMatch has hundreds of alumni working in companies throughout Silicon Valley. These alumni help current ProMatch members in their search for company information and employment opportunities. ProMatch alumni often check our web site for current Member Profiles when their companies are hiring.

What are the ProMatch Membership Requirements?

ProMatch is a member-driven organization. Therefore, ProMatch requires the following from its members:

1. Volunteer hours: As ProMatch members essentially "run" ProMatch by operating and maintaining all ProMatch activities, members are required to provide a minimum of 4 hours volunteer service each week. Members should plan to spend at least 3 days per week engaged in ProMatch activities. The ability to actively participate in ProMatch allows professional job seekers to interact with each other, and is unmatched by any other resource in Silicon Valley. Members have found active participation valuable, and some ProMatch alumni even continue to contribute their expertise by providing assistance to current ProMatch members. 2. Weekly meetings: Members must attend two ProMatch meetings each week - the Monday Business Meetings and the Thursday General Meeting. Attending these "working" meetings in addition to attending the ProMatch workshops offers members ongoing opportunities to become familiar with each other's job search needs and careers goals, and to assist each other to attain these goals.

How Do I Join ProMatch?

There are 2 steps to joining ProMatch:

The first step is to attend Orientation, which is offered every Wednesday from 8:15 a.m. until noon at the CONNECT! Job Seeker Center (address is listed below). You will learn about ProMatch and the benefits of becoming a ProMatch member as well as the requirements to participate in the program. To attend the Orientation, simply show up at 8:15 a.m. at the CONNECT! Job Seeker Center (late arrivals will need to reschedule). There are no advanced sign-ups for this workshop - just come in at 8:15 a.m.

At the conclusion of Orientation, attendees who are interested in joining ProMatch can sign up for the next ProMatch enrollment. Enrollment introduces new ProMatch members to staff and the ProMatch facilities, covers policies and procedures, and helps members get started as active, contributing members of ProMatch.
